Real Love – Hillsong Young & Free: Song Story

5 days left! Today’s song is “Real Love” from Hillsong Young & Free. This song is all about the incredible love of God for his people – for us – a love that is incomparable with any other love that we have ever, or will ever encounter. This is Real Love.

This song describes the vastness of his love for us, reaching beyond the skies, running deep, stretching wide. Ephesians 3:18 describes the impossibility for us to grasp “how wide and long and high and deep is the love of God”.

It declares that God will never let go of us and the his love is beyond any thing that we could understand, control or yield. God is love, his perfect love casts out all fear (1 John 4:18) and we need to just dive in and give over all the control to him. He won’t ever let us down – he’s got us, we are in the palm of his hand and he’s not letting go (John 10:28). Deuteronomy 31:8 says “Do not be afraid of discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will never fail you nor abandon you.” God has you. His love for you is forever and unchanging.

And finally it’s all about the freedom and life that we find when we experience the fullness of the love that God has for us. True, unlimited, bountiful freedom that if we truly step into it, if we live from it, we don’t have to fear or hide. For where the spirit of the Lord is there is freedom (2 Corinthians 3:17). This is Real Love. God is Real Love.

1 John 4: 7-10
“…love comes from God. Everyone who loves is a child of God and knows God…for God is Love. God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love – not that we loved God but that he loved us…”

Thank you, God, that you are love, real love, and your love for me is never-ending.
Thank you that you go ahead of us and are always with us.
Thank you for the freedom and the fullness of life that we find in you.
