Photo-perfect vs. reality

This photo makes parenthood look easy, but it isn’t ⭐️

This is a photo of a smile, a beautiful moment that I captured because I wanted to look back and remember how perfect it was. But recently Noah has been getting very frustrated that, now she can finally roll onto her belly, she can’t get herself around on her front. This in combination with even more intense teething (with no teeth to show for it yet) has led to one unhappy baby (and a lot less sleep for mummy and daddy).

Anyone else been through or going through this stage of parenthood? Any advice for a first-time mum of a teething and frustrated baby?

Don’t let anyone else’s glossy Instagram feed fool you into thinking they’ve got it all sorted. I’ve had the highest highs and the lowest lows I’ve ever had since becoming a mum. I’ve felt fear, hope, anxiety, joy, exhaustion, trauma, elation and amazement, self-doubt, and serious loneliness, as well as the fullest of hearts ❤️ – sometimes all at the same time.

It’s important to remember that Instagram feeds are the highlights of someone’s life, not the full picture – we can’t compare these to our behind-the-scenes reality and think we’re less than or failing.

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:37‬ ‭NIV
